(AMC) after workshop date indicates the workshop is run through the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Camp Mohican.  These workshops start on Friday night at 7 P.M. and end Sunday afternoon.  All food and lodging is included.  Please contact Camp Mohican to register 908-362-5670.

Group Programs
Join the highly qualified Lord Stirling Outdoor Education Center staff for a day of rock climbing and/or rappelling in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area or Peterskill, Shawanagunks, NY. Our programs are a great opportunity for school, college, corporate, or camp groups to have a fun and educational experience while learning about rock climbing. All equipment is supplied. We can cater our programs to meet the needs of almost any institution. Approximate cost is $85.00 per student.

Introduction to Rock Climbing Course
This two-day program is designed to introduce students to the skills necessary to learn basic Top Rope Rock Climbing techniques. Our goal for this course is to have the first time rock climber become comfortable in climbing and rappelling, with the possibility of learning how to set up natural anchor top rope climbs. We will also teach equipment inspection and maintenance so climbers can continue climbing in a safe manner. There is no prerequisite for this course and all gear is supplied. This course will take place in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational and is sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Camp Mohican in Blairstown, New Jersey. Intermediate Rock Climbing Course

A two-day program designed to teach students the skills necessary to create solid top rope anchors using both natural and artificial protection. Our goal is to give the students an understanding of how to place passive and active artificial protection, create solid top rope anchors, create solid belay anchors, escape belays, and perform simple rescues. The prerequisite for this course is our “Introduction to Rock Climbing Course” or equivalent experience. Students should have their own harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes for this course. They should also bring climbing hardware and a rope. This course will take place in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area, Ralph Stover State Park, or the Adirondack National Park. Call for course dates. Approximate cost $220.00 per student. Accommodation information available.

 

Top Rope Rock Climbing Instructor Workshop

Three-day course designed to teach skills necessary to safely and effectively develop and instruct Top Rope Rock Climbing programs. The course will cover all aspects of Top Rope climbing. All participants must have Top Rope Rock Climbing experience. This course will take place in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area. Additional information is available upon request. Approximate cost $290.00 per participant.

 

Guided Rock Climbing
Lord Stirling Outdoor Education Center will guide clients on multi-pitch lead climbs in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area, Ralph Stover State Park, Adirondack Mountains, or other assessable areas of client interest. Approximate cost $150.00 a day per client plus traveling expenses.

Lord Stirling Outdoor Education Center Instructors are Certified American Mountain Guide Association Top Rope Site Managers and Certified New York State Rock Climbing Guides.
